Hansan Ugur is a native of Valence, in the department of Drôme. Following studies in economics, he participated in the development and dynamisation of a travelling cinema in the countryside of the Drôme-Ardèche area before settling in Germany in 2004.
The next year, he joined the « Festival International du Film Francophone » of Tübingen/Stuttgart and became its program manager. This 37 years lasting festival is one of the most important francophone festivals in Europe. Since sixteen years, he is in charge of the program department and a member of the selection committee.
As a freelancer, he also participates to other festivals including the Cinelatino festival of Tübinger, the Frauenwelten festival and the Cinécole Maxmedien for the diffusion of francophone films in German schools. He also carries out missions for German film distributors, notably Arsenal Filmyerleih.
He has also written film critics for the German magazine Klett « Trait d’Union ». Furthermore, he is also a photograph and organizes photographic exhibitions, including « Portraits de cinéastes » in 2014.
